Swept into the tidepools
from an existing life
we find the challenge changing
We are separate now
from the wide ocean
and it’s maul and churn
In the tidepool
we’re bound to
all life in manner
And all matter
of wonder and worry
we’ve left behind, in ocean.
We can’t know
in intimate detail
for the tidepool must have boundaries
We can’t go
in search as well
from tidepool to tidepool
in horry debate
In the tidepool
we blend
to begin a life
As one species
of many
And waste
away our knowledge
of ocean
And after-life
while tidepool dries
stark in sun
And we, blind
to the wide ocean,
look to tidepools
once again.
