Poems are not Poetry, anymore Ms. Moore

Utterances perhaps sent forth
Looking for acclaim
in this world,

But no one I can find
writes a line of poetry
anymore, Ms. Moore.

I blame the war on rhyme,
Though not to rhyme
is not a crime, except
when it is.

I read such academic lines
and wonder but at least
they don't rhyme.

Such acolytes must abhor
the unprocessed word
of such a bore
as I.

They must strip rhyme
anytime it should
appear.

While such as I
just spit, a line
and there it
sits and
rhymes.

To hold deep thoughts
at a minimum must
the academic
as he defends
his polemic.

Ms. Moore, I respectfully disagree,
business documents
aren't poetry.

Except in the hands
of academics
who write
the epics
of today,
unread.
